Adoption Applications and fees
Our adoption fees for purebred dogs will vary from those wonderful ‘blends’ in our center, simply because the public sometimes prefers purebreds, and our mission is to save as many lives as we can by running our center like a business. Our adoptable pets depend on us to stay in business, so we will have many animals ‘in process’ in our wonderful foster homes (see “Becoming a member of our Foster Pack”) but will maintain a reasonable number of pets at the shelter to ensure their health, happiness and safety. Adoption fees cover spay or neuter, vaccinations, vet exam and records, and expenses, like any other business. The fees do NOT include the many years of love, fun, and companionship our adoptable animals provide on a daily basis. Naturally no one could afford what unconditional love is worth! All adoptions at Animal Village NM include 3 FREE obedience lessons right here in our enclosed park, and you are welcome to continue after that on a low-cost paying basis. All fees help us to keep this non-profit 501c3 NO-KILL shelter going, so you really help yourself, your dog, and AVNM when you board here, train here, and adopt here! When we adopt one dog to a great home, we get another from death row, so you save two (unless we get a mommy with pups!). So treat yourself to a whole new joyful adoption experience, meet our wonderful dogs, take 'em out to our "Meet & Greet" park and enjoy the laughs! Any will make a great addition to your exercise program, those cold nights as your new 'Snuggle-Buddy,' and your 2011 Christmas cards! We require that all cat adoptions be to indoor only homes. As our pets have already faced death from euthanasia at a shelter, we do not allow our adopted cats or kittens to again face death from cars on the road, or predators on 2 or 4 legs.
