A Valentine’s Match That Feels Like a Hug

  • 1 min read

This Valentine’s season, something special happened at Animal Village NM.

Elaine Welch, CEO of Mobility Matters in California, stepped forward with a $1,000 matching gift for our Valentine’s LoveRaiser. That means every dollar given right now goes twice as far for low-income families and the pets they love.

Matching gifts do more than double donations. They give small nonprofits like ours a lift — a sense that we’re not doing this work alone.

Longtime supporters, monthly donors, and even new friends have already stepped forward. Each gift feels like a quiet vote of confidence in prevention, compassion, and keeping pets in loving homes.

We are deeply grateful — and inspired — by everyone who shows up for this mission.

Petunia was used as a backyard breeder dog, and her puppies were taken from her far too young.
The repeated trauma changed her. Spay and neuter prevents stories like hers before they begin.
